Polarjazz – the world’s northernmost music festival!
Since 1998, the world’s northernmost jazz festival has been held in Longyearbyen in Svalbard. Polarjazz is always arranged the first weekend of February, when the dark season is almost over, and the fantastic blue light returns to the archipelago.
This is a completely unique music festival that the inhabitants, visitors, and not least artists greatly appreciate – and constantly return to.
The music on offer during Polarjazz is not only for jazz lovers, but rather an eclectic mix of musical experiences in the Polar Night for young and old alike. Throughout the years most artists have been Norwegian, but often artists or bands from Europe and the U.S. have performed during the festival.
Local musicians also get the chance to show off their talents during the annual festival.
